The flopping tendencies of soccer players has been well documented throughout the history of our blog, but today we will be giving the players a break as we focus on the flopping tendencies of the game’s officials instead.
For that, we take you to a Belgian Jupiler League game from Saturday, where video shows one of the referee’s assistants getting hit by a piece of cardboard before dropping to the ground in a heap of pain. That piece of cardboard turned out to be a cup separator that must weigh no more than one pound. That may not seem like much, but it was enough to send this shameless official flopping to the ground while giving “The Beautiful Game” yet another embarrassing incident to deal with.
Check it out (focus on the top right corner at the beginning of the clip).
