Lily FigueraHere are some of the best sports plays for all you gamblers out there.

The Game: New Jersey Devils @ Florida Panthers

The Pick: Devils -115

The Reason: The New Jersey Devils enter the post-season having won their last six games.  As for the Florida Panthers, they have won just one of their last six, and just two of their last ten games entering the playoffs.  Despite the fact that the Panthers finished in third place and have home ice advantage for this series, the Devils were still the much better team throughout the season, as they finished with eight more points than their first round playoff opponent.  Playing on the road has not been much of a problem for the Devils as they were 24-15-2 away from home this season.  Look for them to open this series with a road victory over the Panthers tonight.

The Game: Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox

The Pick: Tigers -110

The Reason: The Tigers enter today’s game against the White Sox with an impressive 5-1 record on the season.  Their offense currently ranks first in the league, with 6.67 runs per game, while their defense ranks fourth, allowing only 3.67 runs against per game.  The Tigers have won each of the last six meetings between these two teams, including the last three in Chicago.  In his last five starts against the White Sox, Detroit starter Max Scherzer has allowed only six runs against in 37 innings.  Look for the Tigers to continue to roll, as they keep their winning streak alive against the Sox with a victory today.

2012 Record: (65-65-7), This Week: (3-4-1), Last Week: (4-4)

Blake Griffin Missed A Breakaway Dunk Last Night (Video)

blake griffin miss dunkBack in 2002, during the NBA All-Star Game, Michael Jordan showed us that even the best can sometimes miss an easy breakaway dunk.

Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers was kind enough to remind us of that fact during last night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Griffin has show throughout the course of his young career that he is capable of throwing down a vicious slam, no matter who is standing between him and the basket.  But it appears as though he has a difficult time throwing down one of those highlight reel slams when no one in his way, as he watched his breakaway dunk attempt rattle off the rim late in the first quarter.

Thankfully, the Clippers wouldn’t need those two points, as they managed to cruise to the 95-82 victory without them.

Here is a look at Blake’s blown breakaway dunk attempt.

Bear Grylls opening pitchStephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals may be able to reach 100 miles per hour on the radar gun, but I bet he can’t throw a flaming fastball quite like Bear Grylls of Man vs. Wild.

Grylls put his survival instincts on display during the opening pitch prior to last night’s game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Los Angeles Dodgers, as he showed those in attendance at Dodgers Stadium that all he needs is a lighter and a baseball in order to start a life-saving fire in the wilderness.

Here is a look at Grylls’ flaming opening pitch.

Charles Barkley Thinks “It’s A Joke” That Lamar Odom Is Getting Paid (Video)

charles barkley lamar odomDuring halftime of last night’s game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors, Charles Barkley voiced his opinion regarding the Lamar Odom situation, as he believes it is “a joke” that Odom will get paid $1-million to sit at home next month after being let go by the Mavericks.  And Charles isn’t the only one who feels this way.

I also can’t help but comment on the ridiculousness of this.  Here is a guy who brought nothing but problems to the defending champion Dallas Mavericks from the moment he was acquired during the off-season, and he eventually had to be sent home for the remainder of the season due to his constant tardiness and unwillingness to perform up to standards.  After all of that, he will still receive $1-million to sit at home, as well as a $2.4-million buyout payment in June.  Meanwhile, there are people all over the country showing up to work on time and busting their chops while struggling to pay their monthly bills.

Yes, Lamar Odom.  You are the problem with America today, and even Sir Charles seems to agree.

You can check out Barkley’s comments regarding Odom’s situation in the video below.

I feel as though incidents like this happen on a regular basis in places like North Carolina, but rarely is there someone present who owns a camera and knows how to use it.  This just so happens to be one of those special occasions, and we are more than happy to share it with you.

Embarrassing Fall Leads To Breakaway Soccer Goal (Video)

Naoaki Aoyama fallThe Japanese have never been known for their excellence on the soccer pitch, and this video pretty much sums up why.

It comes from a J-League Cup match between Yokohama F. Marinos and Consadole Sapporo, as Yokohama defender Naoaki Aoyama took a spill while running backwards with the ball at his feet.  That allowed Sapporo striker Hideo Oshima to walk in alone on the Yokohama goaltender and easily slide the ball into the corner of the net.  Sapporo would go on to win the game by a score of 2-1, making this embarrassing display that much more painful for Aoyama, his teammates and the Yokohama fans to bear.

You can watch the embarrassment unfold in the video below.

ESPN Commercial Shows How Much It Sucks To Be Named “Michael Jordan” (Video)

espn michael jordan commercialIf you happen to be the Michael Jordan, life is probably pretty good, as you own six NBA Championship rings, five NBA MVP awards, the Charlotte Bobcats (yes, they suck, but they picked a great year to suck with Anthony Davis entering the draft), and millions of dollars.  Unfortunately, there is only one of those Michael Jordans, and chances are you are not him if you are reading this blog.

As for every other man in the world who goes by the name of Michael Jordan, they have to deal with the disappointment that appears on the faces of those they encounter once they realize that they are dealing with the 9-to-5, office working Michael Jordan, and not superstar basketball player who goes by the same name.

ESPN provided us all with a glimpse of that disappointment via this hilarious, recently released commercial.

This Day In Sports History (April 17th) — Martin Brodeur

martin brodeur goalIt was on this day in 1997 that New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur scored during a playoff match-up against the Montreal Canadiens.  With that goal, he became just the second goalie in NHL history to score in the playoffs.

During Game One of their opening round playoff series against the Canadiens, the Devils found themselves leading by a score of 4-2 with less than a minute remaining in regulation.  That two goal lead allowed Brodeur to take a chance and shoot for the Habs’ empty net, and he would capitalize on that opportunity, as his shot eluded the six Montreal players before crossing the goal line and giving his Devils the 5-2 lead.  New Jersey would go on to win that series, but they would lose to the New York Rangers in the following round.

Three years later Brodeur recorded the second goal of his career during a regular season game against the Philadelphia Flyers, tying him with Ron Hextall for most career goals by a goaltender.  Nine different goalies have scored a goal during an NHL game, but Hextall and Brodeur remain the only two to do so during a playoff game.

Here is a look at Brodeur’s playoff goal against the Montreal Canadiens.

Delonte West Picked Gordon Hayward’s Ear Last Night (Video)

delonte west wet willy gordon haywardIn the NHL, disputes between two opposing players often leads to a fight, or several of them, as we have seen thus far during the 2012 playoffs.

As for the NBA and its players, it appears as though they prefer to settle their disputes with a good old fashioned Wet Willy, although, someone should probably tell the Mavericks’ Delonte West that in order to make it a real Wet Willy, he has to stick his finger in his mouth before shoving it in the ear of the Utah Jazz’s Gordon Hayward.

For anyone who may be wondering, delivering a Wet Willy to a member of the opposition is enough to earn a technical foul, but it is not enough to earn an ejection.

NBC Cameraman Was Searching For Babes And Boobs During Flyers-Penguins Game (Video)

nbc cameraman boobsWhile most of the people in attendance at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday afternoon had a hard time peeling their eyes off the action on the ice – which included a total of 12 goals and 158 penalty minutes – one cameraman was having a hard time keeping his focus on the ice surface, and off the female Philly fans and their chests.

During a break in the action, the NBC camera positioned atop the glass in the time keeper’s box was spotted searching for any woman whose breasts were worth a close-up look, and after surveying the field, it managed to find just that.  Unfortunately, those of us who were watching the game on NBC’s television feed missed this, but those watching through NBC’s online feed (which offers alternative camera angles and coverage during commercial breaks) got a great look at the cleavage.

Thankfully, one of those viewers was smart enough to record the scene, and we are smart enough to show it to you.

Baseball Bling: 15 Best World Series Championship Rings

This past Saturday was “Ring Day” at Busch Stadium in St. Louis—the day every member of the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals (plus every other employee of the franchise) had been waiting for since the team won its 11th World Series Championship back in October. And as it turns out, it was well worth the wait. Rubies, diamonds, white gold, yellow gold, rally squirrel—the Cardinals’ newest World Series ring has everything today’s superrich prima donna athlete could ever want.

But after reading about the Cardinals’ newest World Series rings right here on Total Pro Sports, I got to wondering: where does the Cardinals’ 2011 World Series ring rank among the 86 other World Series Championship rings handed out since 1914? So I did a little research and came up with my Top 15 and, obviously, a topic for today’s list.

What do you think?

Danica ThrallHere are some of the best sports plays for all you gamblers out there.

The Game: Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks

The Pick: Celtics +3

The Reason: The Boston Celtics have been rolling as of late, as their six wins in the last seven games have allowed them to climb into fourth place in the Eastern Conference.  Tonight they take on a New York Knicks team that they have dominated as of late, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two teams.  The Celtics have covered the spread in four of the last five between these two teams, and they have also won and covered in four of their last five trips to New York.  Look for them to continue their winning ways as they come away with a win at Madison Square Garden tonight.

The Game: Texas Rangers @ Boston Red Sox

The Pick: Rangers +105

The Reason: The Texas Rangers enter tonight’s game with an impressive 8-2 record on the season.  Getting a win against Jon Lester won’t be easy, but the Red Sox ace has struggled to win games as of late, as the Sox have lost in each of his last six starts, dating back to last season.  The Rangers have also beaten Lester in two of their last three meetings against him.    After sweeping the Twins in Minnesota, Texas has now won their last four straight and they are a perfect 3-0 o the road this season.  They have also won six of their last eight games in Boston.  Look for them to earn their ninth win of the season, as they beat the Sox at Fenway tonight.

Pitch Invader Gets Jacked Up By A Rugby Player (Video)

rugby pitch invaderMost television networks choose not to show viewers footage of pitch invaders running onto the field of play because they feel that doing so would only encourage others to partake in similar activities.  While that may be true in certain instances, something tells me that anyone who saw Olly Barkley dunk a pitch invader during Friday’s English Premiership rugby match between Bath and Sale Sharks won’t be attempting to run onto any rugby fields anytime soon.

Here is a look at Olly’s picture perfect tackle on this cross-dressing pitch invader.

Hulk Hogan Revs The Flyers Fans Up For Game 3 (Video)

hulk hogan flyersPrior to their crucial Game 3 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal battle against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, the Philadelphia Flyers used the real Hulk Hogan (not the fake one, like you may have seen in Pittsburgh earlier this month) to get their fans amp’d up for the game.  That plan seemed to work, as the Philly faithful was on their feet throughout the sixty minutes of action during the Flyers 8-4 victory.  Although, on second thought, that probably has more to do with the fights and goals, and less to do with this appearance from the Hulkster.

With their team now one win away from sweeping the Penguins in this best-of-seven series, we doubt the Flyers fans inside the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night will need any celebrity sightings in order to get them excited for Game Four.

Here is a look at Hulk Hogan revving up the Flyers’ fans.

Futsal Player Shuts-Up Opponent With A Kick To The Face (Video)

futsal kick faceAfter number eight in white avoided a sliding tackle from a member of the opposition and slipped a shot past the goalkeeper for the goal, he probably should have just shut his mouth, celebrated with his teammates and headed back to his half of the field.  Instead, he decided to stick around and taunt the opponent whose tackle he eluded.  That decision would cost him, as he couldn’t elude the defenders leg a second time and was forced to take a devastating roundhouse kick to the face.

On the streets, a kick like that to a person’s face might land you some jail time.  On the soccer field, it will land you nothing more than a red card.

Kobe Bryant Was On The Kings’ Kiss Cam (Video)

kobe bryant daughter kiss camKobe Byrnat was caught putting his lips on another female during Game Three of the NHL’s Western Conference Quarterfinal match-up between the Vancouver Canucks and the Los Angeles Kings.  And no, the female we speak of was not alleged mistress Jessica Burciaga, or some 19-year-old floozie who slipped him her number one night while he was making his way to the Lakers’ locker room.  Instead, the lucky lady on the end of Kobe’s kiss was his daughter, Natalia.

Kobe attended the game with his two daughters and his wife, Vanessa.  And when he and his nine-year-old daughter were caught on camera during the Kings’ “Kiss Cam” segment, the Lakers’ superstar played along by kissing her on the forehead.

Kobe and Vanessa have been in the midst of a divorce since December 2011, but they have still managed to remain very close, and have even shared some moments together that have caused some to believe that a reconciliation could take place.  Had the two been sitting next to each other during Sunday night’s game, we could have witnessed another one of those moments via the Kiss Cam.  Instead, they had their two little girls seated between them, leaving us with the following Kiss Cam moment between Kobe and Natalia.

Sacha Heppell broncos cheerleaderSacha Heppell was attempting to become the first male cheerleader of the Denver Broncos, as he showed up to compete with hundreds of gorgeous women during the team’s open tryouts on Sunday.  And for everyone who was hoping that this would be one of those moments were gender barriers were broken down by some brave individual who wasn’t going to allow his sex to stop him from pursuing his dreams, they were likely disappointed to hear that Sacha’s pursuit failed miserably, as he didn’t make it past the first cut.

And for those who believe that the decision to cut Sacha was based solely on the fact that he is a male, the following video, which features footage of his dance performance, should help prove otherwise.

Panthers’ Sean Bergenheim Delivers A Wrestling-Style Flying Elbow (Video)

bergenheim flying elbowWhile everyone is busy talking about the hit by Raffi Torres that sent the Blackhawks’ Marian Hossa off the ice on a stretcher, most have chosen to completely ignore the nasty flying elbow delivered by Sean Bergenheim to the back of Anton Volchenkov’s head during Game 3 between the Florida Panthers and the New Jersey Devils last night.

With fights, cheap shots and illegal hits to the head becoming the focal point of the 2012 NHL playoffs thus far, many of us find ourselves searching for answer to why the 2012 post-season brand of hockey has become so vicious.  And after watching Shea Weber’s turnbuckle-style head-smash on Henrik Zetterberg, and Bergenheim’s flying elbow on Volchenkov, I am beginning to believe that it may have something to do with all the buzz surrounding Brock Lesnar’s return to the WWE.

Here is another look at Bergenheim’s flying elbow off the top rope.

The Game: New York Rangers @ Ottawa Senators

The Pick: Rangers -115

The Reason: The Ottawa Senators have managed to hang tough with the New York Rangers thus far through the opening three games of their best-of-seven playoff series, but their 1-0 loss in Game 3 could be a devastating one.  After playing tough and getting several chances, the Sens couldn’t beat Henrik Lundqvist, and that win could be exactly what the Rangers needed, as they head into tonight’s game with momentum on their side as they look to travel back to MSG with a 3-1 series lead.  With that win, the Rangers have now won five of their last six road games, and seven of their last eight games in Ottawa.  Look for them to earn the Game 4 victory against the Sens tonight.

The Game: Texas Rangers @ Boston Red Sox

The Pick: Rangers -105

The Reason: The Texas Rangers lit up Red Sox ace Jon Lester last night en route to the dominating 18-3 victory at Fenway.  Tonight they put their 9-2 record on the line against Josh Beckett and we expect them to come away with a similar outcome.  The Rangers have now won five straight games and they are a perfect 4-0 on the road this season.  Their starting pitcher, Derek Holland, is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in two starts this season, and he has won each of his last two starts against the Red Sox.  Texas currently ranks second in the league in offense and first in defense.  Look for them to make it two wins in a row at Fenway tonight.

So on that note, I present to you today’s list: not 17 Athletes Who Dated Victoria’s Secret Models, but rather 17 Incredicle Victoria’s Secret Models Who Dated Athletes.
